Soundminer Overview

What is metadata?

Metadata is information stored within audio files that can be accessed by Soundminer (and, in part, by ProTools and Nuendo). It conceals information regarding file name, description, categorization, as well as length, sampling frequency or source disc from which the file was originally imported.

Soundminer distinguishes between "HARD-Info" files that cannot be erased, e.g. sampling frequency, bit rate, file size. These parameters are defined by the audio file and can only be re-defined by destructive alteration.

Underneath the Soundminer metadata, the actual metadata becomes visible. Files are described and categorized in different fields; Soundminer uses these for its search/sort features. Whether you wish to add comments to the sounds or sort by project - Soundminer can do it all!
